Intellidance® is a playful and creative approach to parenting and teaching in the early years. The program model combines exploration and discovery with dance, music, and play designed to nurture our littlest dancers, while strengthening the caregiver-child bond.
Intellidance® is a conceptual dance education, emphasizing creativity, imagination and expression. It was created to foster critical development in children ages 0-5. The programs are based on current best practices and recommendations in early childhood development and education coupled with child and caregiver- approved fun!
The Intellidance® child-learning philosophy follows 3 tenants:
Each child is unique and will be respected as such.
Children learn best in an open play-based environment.
Children learn through participation, observation, and interaction.
From ballet, tap, and jazz in early childhood to ballroom dance in university, Mel Gibb has always been on the dance floor. With a Master’s degree in Special Education, Mel brings this experience and her love of dance to Intellidance®. Mel has seen the benefits of Intellidance first hand while watching her two children grow with the program. Come dance with her!
Modern Mama, Mama’s Choice Award (Edmonton) 2013 and 2014
Mel expertly combines her knowledge and training with a fun, outgoing personality that creates a class both caregivers and children enjoy! Mel always leads with professionalism and heart creating meaningful connections with her participants. – Jessica Baudin-Griffin, Founder of Intellidance®
Ms. Gibb was tremendously inclusive… She encouraged [my son] to explore the music and his body in ways that were comfortable for him… Driven by an obvious passion for children, and equipped with an equivalent knowledge and skill in early childhood development, Ms. Gibb created an environment of enthusiasm and fun that appeal to kids and adults alike. – Zita Dube-Lockhart, Mom
My experience with Mel as an instructor has been amazing! Being a mom to a couple of sweet little’s herself, she understands how children absorb information and is able to keep them engaged while encouraging caregiver participation to its fullest. – Karli Wright, Mom and Director of Mommy Connections Edmonton South
