You start a business, maybe it’s a sideline, maybe it’s a hobby at first, and little by little, it grows. There are days where you wonder if it’s worth all the time and effort. There are days where you wonder if anyone but you cares that the business is in existence. And then you get the email that forces you to realize that others have been watching and that it does matter.
That’s what happened to our own Nicola Doherty, City Director for Edmonton and Northern Alberta, yesterday. She received an email from the Alberta Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) to advise her that she has been nominated for the Celebration of Achievement award!
To quote the AWE website: “The Celebration of Achievement pays tribute to an exceptional entrepreneur who has achieved recognizable success. This visionary woman is an inspirational leader, who has built an entrepreneurial venture in Alberta with significant impact on the economy and the community, and who acts as a role model for women in business.”
In addition to actively participating in her role as City Director, Nicola owns and operates Sprogs.CA, an online retailer of gifts for kids (and a few for parents!). Past recipients of this award include Arlene Dickinson (whom we all know from Dragon’s Den) and Ruth Kelly, CEO of Venture Publishing.
We at EntrepeneurMomNow always knew Nicola had it in her. Now everyone else can know it too
