What or who inspired you to start your business?
My Mother had a friend who started her own business as a single parent. She was a focused, positive person and I admired her for her determination to create a successful business. From her mentorship began my entrepreneurial drive. Along with a huge passion for spin, when I saw the need in the market for a dedicated studio it was exciting to think we could help bring more focus to this exciting fitness niche.
What are your most popular products or services?
For us, providing well rounded services is essential – Soulspin offers child minding during select weekday classes, Glow Juicery has opened a full service juicery in the studio and Philosophy Nutrition is on site for science-based healthy eating advice.
What do you love most about what you do?
Soulspin enables me to get more involved in the community – I’m an outgoing person and love learning; the studio allows me to provide charities with additional fundraising avenues along with primarily helping individuals achieve a healthy lifestyle.
How do you balance being a mom and entrepreneur?
Communication! Luckily our Daughter is extremely responsible but it takes her understanding how busy life can get and us understanding what she needs so that we can maximize quality time spent together.
What single piece of advice would you give moms starting their business?
If you’ve done the research and talked to the right people and it still feels right – then it’s the right decision for you. PS – don’t ever feel bad about asking for help/advice/a shoulder to yell on (lol)
How do you relax?
Everyone needs to focus their brain on valuable mindful things other than work. Even if only a 20 min window – run a bath, read or work out and do it for you.
What place inspires you and why?
Our studio/community of health and fitness! It’s such a beautiful thing to have fun where you work, and I learn from each of our positive and motivating Instructors and clients every day.
What is your biggest fear?
Surprisingly it isn’t failure, because we all learn from our failures, it would be knowing that I was doing something that I wasn’t passionate about but I wasn’t acting on knowing how I could change it.
What is your motto?
Motto – Everything happens for a reason-focus on what we can change with reflection, proper planning, positivity and understanding.
What motivates you?
Everyone around me – I’ve met and continue to love meeting so many motivating and passionate people.
What makes you GO?
Spin class, of course!!
