Tasha Bertrand & Annemarie Brattland
What or who inspired you to start your business?
This is the second business we have owned together, our first business was successfully sold to enable us to pursue Bert&Bratt full time. We were inspired by the idea of solving a problem we saw when we were moms, and that problem was the inconvenience of sterilizing infant items when out and about. We feel we have solved that problem for mothers everywhere and are proud that we are helping to protect infants health and well being.
What are your most popular products or services?
Currently we have just one product, the Bert&Bratt Baby , but stay tuned….we do have another product planned.
What do you love most about what you do?
We both love the fact that we had an idea and we actually brought it to fruition. This product is created, designed, manufactured and marketed by us. We did every step and learned as we went.
How do you balance being a mom and entrepreneur?
In our minds, the whole goal of being an entrepreneur is to have balance and be able to set your working hours around kids and their activities! We work while they are in school and we work a lot while they are asleep!
What single piece of advice would you give moms starting their business?
Be prepared for things to take twice as long as they should and cost twice as much. Remember to reach out to other successful entrepreneurs, because they were once where you are now.
How do you relax?
Relax? Lol what’s that ? Between our two families we have 3 boys and all three are in hockey! We are lucky to read a book or have a hot bath.
What place inspires you and why?
We both get inspiration from being surrounded by white sand and crystal clear water. Hearing the waves and feeling the sand in your toes forces you to relax.
What is your biggest fear?
I think everyone has a fear of failure, or of taking a financial risk that doesn’t pay off. We believe taking risks is part of doing business.
What is your motto?
“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” Henry David Thoreau
What motivates you?
Seeing our children happy, success in a job well done and the lure of faraway islands
What makes you GO?
The drive to succeed, hard work ethic and the belief that you can have it all.
