I needed a flyer design.
I needed it quick.
There are many methods and tools available to do such a project, and I thought I knew them all until the Calgary City Director of Entrepreneur Mom Now suggested I try Canva. My first thought was that I don’t need another graphic design tool, another sign up for yet another app, another anything! But after she shared some pretty polished looking graphics in our conversation thread, I was curious.
I headed to the website, which had an awesome homepage complete with video and clear sign up option…well, not sign up, reservation list. It’s in beta (Pre-release version). Why is that now I wanted access even more? I signed up, and in less than a week, I got the confirmation email and was able to start using Canva. Thank goodness, because it became one of those things that now that I heard of it, it’s all I see and hear people talking about online, and I wanted in! I try to keep up on online tools and like to be able to share all the resources and
What does it do? Canva gives you everything you need to easily turn ideas into stunning designs. Canva takes care of the boring bits so you can spend more time creating.
I still recommend hiring a professional when you really need to make a statement, but for those little projects, that are not worth the $45+/hour graphic artist charge or just need to get done now. You can select your image size, search for photos, layouts, backgrounds and different text options, and put together custom images for Facebook cover images, blog images, social media images, presentations, posters, invitations, infographics, even business cards. For F-R-E-E!
Well, some of the images, and some of the layouts and backgrounds cost $1.00 each to use, which is much less than any stock image from Shutterstock or other image supply – but I find I upload my own images to use most.
