What or who inspired you to start your business?
This company was started as my oldest daughter (9) was a blanket baby! That was her “thing” that made her feel secure; whether it be at nap time, on play dates, at her dayhome, she felt better with her friend along. I researched this attachment and realized how important it was for children to have something they can use to soothe themselves and that feels like home.
What do you love most about what you do?
I love fabric! I love helping clients choose the right color combinations and making that vision they have of the bedding they want come to fruition. I love educating people on fabric choices and the function of our blankets.
How do you balance being a mom and entrepreneur?
As a single parent, balance is definitely difficult at times. We all work together to make the household work and sometimes that means the kids fabric shop with me or meet clients with me. Sometimes it means we take time to play together and work later. There is always some give and take for both.
What single piece of advice would you give moms starting their business?
Research! Each of our products has a history and a reason for its fabric pairing. We have spent oodles of time researching to bring the best products and fabrics to our clients.
How do you relax?
Actually work is relaxing! The hum of the sewing machine is therapeutic. Outside of work, I enjoy Just Dance or a good read!
What place inspires you and why?
Is it sad to say the fabric store? Love seeing new designs and fabrics and my brain just starts going on what new products I can create!
What is your biggest fear?
Failure. Not just in business but as a mom too. I want to do the best job I can at whatever job I do.
What is your motto?
Make it work! It can be applied to almost anything! That square of fabric too small? Make it work and redesign! Can’t find your lunch box? Make it work use a bag! Ran out of blue thread? Make it work with white! Laundry`s not done and there are no matching socks? Make it work and mis match a pair!
What motivates you?
I love watching design and DIY shows and the final product is always motivating!
What makes you GO?
The light at the end of the tunnel! Sometimes from start to finish, a clients order can be quite the process. From design stage to fabric ordering stage to sewing stage. The look on the customers face when their order is done and its just what they wanted is always rewarding.
