Five words that describe your business
Timeless, Customized, Emotional, Personal, Creative
Describe your business
REEL Moments is a video production company that captures your most cherished life moments and brings them to life in a unique, commemorative, REELumentary video. Every Reelumentary is a one-of–a–kind masterpiece. A cherished, Priceless Memento to last a lifetime. Each moment with family and friends is uniquely captured with music, still & video images, and quotations and presented with themed DVD cases, photo albums, cards, canvases, etc.
What or who inspired you to start your business?
I was inspired by the Natural Water Births of my two boys, born only 14 months apart, and the pictures that were taken of them taking their first breath. I love telling stories via video, but knew from my life-defining moments, I had found my passion and wanted to share the gift! Birth and other life moments are so precious. Everyone has a story. Pictures in a box, on a shelf, or on your computer, fall risk to being lost and don’t truly capture the story. I still get goose bumps and shed tears when I put the pictures together with music. It’s the way a child looks at their parents or a husband at his wife. Seeing and feeling emotions offer a full-sensory method to bring these ‘can’t-miss –them moments’ to peoples’ lives in a priceless time capsule to cherish a lifetime.
What are your most popular products or services?
Wedding and DVD Engagement Cinematography were my most popular products. Now Birth Stories DVD Announcements, Athlete Videos, and Family Legacy videos are trending and in demand, particularly since I have launched my latest product that allows clients to create an entire matching themed package. My services and products are unique and make memorable keepsakes for my clients and gifts for their family and friends.
What do you love most about what you do?
Evoking emotions, capturing the moment and freezing it in time so it is never forgotten. This is a niche market and new to many people so I love when people question me (some are very opposed to capturing their occasion on camera) but in the end they are so happy they did! I love being the first to do what I do!
How do you balance being a mom and entrepreneur?
The first couple years of business isn’t about balance, it’s about staying sane and constantly reminding yourself of your priorities and one of the reasons we create our own in business in the first place: “To be home with your children more and to be doing something you love.”
What single piece of advice would you give moms starting their business?
Family 1st, passion & perseverance next… If you do that, you will be successful! Make sure you have a great support network and your priorities in place. Set your boundaries & goals for measuring success and put them somewhere you can see them everyday so you know when you arrive!
How do you relax?
Anything involving travel, sports, outdoors, family, friends, good food and great wine! The best day involves waking up in the mountains, overlooking the lake, enjoying a cup of coffee, followed by an outdoor adventure, a night around the fire, eating s’mores and snuggling with my boys as we fall asleep looking at the stars!
What is your biggest fear?
Not pressing record on the camera or losing someone’s footage. I have learnt the hard way that you have to back up your back up!
What is your motto?
Life is not about the end result, it’s the journey. Along the way you will stumble, but they are only mistakes if you don’t learn from them. Capture, Create, Commemorate. Honouring you, and your memories,by capturing your moments, bringing them to life and making them REEL
What motivates you?
Leaving a legacy for my children and showing them that life isn’t about just working 9-5 doing something you don’t enjoy. It’s about being passionate about what you do, taking risks, pushing yourself and leaving people’s lives better after you have met them.
